Central Division Update:7/29-8/5

The hockey doldrums are well underway, and this month is off to an extremely boring start. There was even less news than usual the past week.

  • The Blackhawks had some minor news by officially signing Theo Peckham to a one-year deal worth $575K. The depth defenseman should spend most of his time in the AHL this upcoming season.
  • The Wild re-signed first-round bust Tyler Cuma to a one-year, two-way deal. The career AHL defenseman has only played in one NHL game since being drafted in 2008.
  • The Blues were the busiest team during the past week. St. Louis first extended Jay Bouwmeester with a five-year extension worth $27 million. The Blues also gave recent trade acquisition Magnus Paajarvi a two-year deal worth $2.4 million. They’ve still yet to re-sign top priority Alex Pietrangelo though.
  • The Winnipeg Jets agreed to deals with their final two RFAs, Zach Bogosian and Blake Wheeler. Bogosian got a seven-year, $36 million contract while Wheeler got six years and $33.6 million.
