In some minor cosmetic moves, the Stars officially released the numbers for the new players on the team and a couple of number switches for returning players.
The new guys:
10 – Shawn Horcoff
17 – Rich Peverley
30 – Dan Ellis
43 – Valeri Nichushkin
55 – Sergei Gonchar
91 – Tyler Seguin
The switches:
5 – Jamie Oleksiak (used to be 43)
16 – Ryan Garbutt (used to be 40)
21 – Antoine Roussel (used to be 60)
24 – Jordie Benn (used to be 58)
Horcoff and Seguin have been known for a while. Seeing Peverely’s name reminds everyone that he’s on this team despite no one having heard a peep from him in two months now. He’s changing from his usual No. 49 to a more traditional lower number.
Gonchar keeps his usual No. 55 and Nichushkin gets Oleksiak’s old No. 43 sweater. Nichushkin has worn No. 43 while in the KHL.
Other changes include some younger returnees getting lower numbers. The most interesting is Roussel taking over Loui Eriksson’s old No. 21 which gets reused quite quickly.
