1st Period:

- This was one of the best, cleanest periods of hockey the Stars have played this season. Kari didn’t have to do much, facing four shots and only one real chance on goal from the Pens. They only had 12 total attempts.
- Dallas scored yet another PPG, placing their streak at seven straight games with a PPG. It’s the longest streak for the Stars since the 2010-2011 season, also a seven-game streak. Their longest this decade was an amazing 18-game (18!) streak in the 2005-2006 season.
- Gonchar’s goal on the PP had some help from a great screen from Horcoff in front.
- The one time Dallas went on the PK in this period, they did an excellent job shutting down the No. 1 PP team in the league. The Pens were held to two SOG for their advantage.
2nd Period:
3:14 – Jamie Benn (19)
Assists: Alex Goligoski (20), Tyler Seguin (27)
10:20 – Rich Peverley (7)
Assist: Shawn Horcoff (9)
- Dallas managed another (pseudo) PP goal in the first five minutes of this period. Slick passing down the ice from Goligoski and Seguin put Benn in prime position on MAF’s left side, and Benn deftly fired it over the shoulder. The PP had just ended as Benn’s shot was going through.
- Dallas was in complete control for the first 10 minutes of this period. They dominated the game and were left with wide-open shots. Peverley’s goal was a result of that hard work and a great pass from Horcoff after he stole the puck from Malkin. His shot went high, glove-side on Fleury and was lasered by.
- Goligoski did some great defensive work out there. He was up against Crosby often and did well keeping him off the board in this period, especially in front. Daley did well also.
3rd Period:

Other Observations:
- Eakin’s line (Garbutt-Eakin-Roussel) did some incredible defensive work tonight against Crosby. The same can be said of Goligoski and Daley.
- Against all odds, Tanner Glass somehow didn’t have a penalty tonight. He put in some huge hits against Chiasson, Eakin and a high elbow to Seguin but nothing was called.
