2013 Game 14 Recap: Flames Demolish Stars 7-4

Final

Dallas Stars 4 – Calgary Flames 7

The Positives:

There are very few positives in a 7-4 loss against one of the worst teams in the league.

Ummmm, Brenden Morrow wasn't too bad this game. He had two goals and was a big obstacle in front of the Calgary net.

Jamie Oleksiak got his first official point of his career last night with an assist on one of Morrow's goals. It should be the first of many for the BigRig.

The power play was good Dallas as they went two of four with goals from Morrow and Cody Eakin. Speaking of Eakin, he was pretty solid last night and had a bunch of scoring chances. It was good to see him finally get on the scoresheet.

Dallas didn't totally give up and did fight back with some goals of their own but it was all moot.

The Meh

Dallas outhost the Flames 34-23 but I still feel that they didn't get enough shots on net. Leland Irving looked like a disaster in net for Calgary and Dallas should have just pelted him with as many shots as possible.

The Bad

Oh boy was the defense horrific. This might have been the single worst defensive game I've ever seen. The Calgary forwards were continuously wide open and had free runs at Richard Bachman. Every single defensemen looked like a pylon last night and the forwards were equally useless. There was a lot of standing around and watching the puck and Flames players fly by.

The PK was baaaaaad. Calgary went two for two and easily found their way into the back of the net.

These back-to-back woes for Dallas are just downright ridiculous now. Every single time the Stars find a new way to disappoint their fans on these second nighters.

The Stars just looked like they didn't care for the first period of this game and were easily outworked, outhustled and outplayed by the Flames. Things need to change quickly for Dallas because they still have six more of these to go. The back-to-back problems are real and spectacularly bad.
