Texas Stars
Texas went 2-1-0 last week as they’re slowly winding down the regular season.
The starts this past week were split between Richard Bachman and Jack Campbell. Campbell was in Dallas during the beginning of the week while Bachman was in the AHL to get some work.
Bachman did pretty well during his two starts of the week, stopping 52 of 56 shots and winning both of his starts. Campbell had some big troubles in his return to Austin. He allowed four goals on 27 shots in the Stars one loss of the week.
Offensively for the Stars, it was a wide spread of scorers, but no one really stood out.. Taylor Vause, Luke Gazdic, Colton Sceviour, Travis Morin and Matt Fraser all had multiple points during the week.
For Texas, it’s really all about staying healthy the rest of the regular season as they gear up for the playoffs. They’re just trying to keep their good rhythm before it really starts counting.
Texas still sits first in the Western Conference and second overall in the AHL.

CHL Prospects
Radek Faksa – Kitchener Rangers
Kitchener started their playoff series against the Guelph Storm this past week and got off to a great start with two solid wins.
Faksa didn’t do too much, he ended up with one assist in the two games, but did play some solid all around hockey. The Rangers really just rode John Gibson to their two wins as he stopped 85 of 87 shots in those two games.
Kitchener leads the series 2-0.

Brett Ritchie – Niagara IceDogs
Ritchie and the IceDogs struggled in the opening round of their playoff run. Niagara lost both of their games to Oshawa while Ritchie played in just one of those games and had just one assist.
The flu bug caught up to young Ritchie and he missed the game on Sunday. The IceDogs have another game on Tuesday so hopefully he gets healthy and back on track.
Niagara is down 0-2 to Oshawa but will have two home games this week.

Gemel Smith – Owen Sound Attack
Gemel Smith had one goal in the two playoff games against Sault Ste. Marie this past week, both wins for Owen Sound.
Smith ended the season playing very well so it was nice to see him get on the board in the first game of the playoffs.
Owen Sound leads their series 2-0 and are on the road this week.

Matej Stransky – Saskatoon Blades
Saskatoon (and Stransky) ended the regular season with a thud and they started out the playoffs on a very low note with two bad losses (7-1 combined) to the Medicine Hat Tigers.
Stransky went pointless in those two games and will really need to get things going if Saskatoon wants to have any chance of getting by.
Saskatoon is down 0-2 to Medicine Hat and will be in even more trouble as they’re on the road this week.

Mike Winther – Prince Albert Raiders
Like Stransky, Winther and the Raiders had terrible starts to the playoffs. The Raiders lost both of their games (6-2 combined), and Winther ended up pointless.
In two playoff years with the Raiders, Winther has gone pointless in six games.
Prince Albert is down 0-2 but will return home this week.

Branden Troock – Seattle Thunderbirds
Troock played no games due to injury and shouldn’t be back the rest of the year.
Seattle, though, won both of their games and leads their series against the Kelowna Rockets 2-0.

Troy Vance – Prince Edward Island Rocket
Vance and the Rocket had an up-and-down start to the playoff series against Val-d’Or. They started out the week with a 3-2 win before getting beaten up 8-3 in the second game of the week.
Vance went pointless in the two games and didn’t manage a shot on net.
The series is tied 1-1 and on the road to Val-d’Or this week.

Maxime Lagace – Prince Edward Island Rocket
Lagace got himself into one game this past week in relief of a besieged Antoine Bibeau. Bibeau allowed seven goals on 24 shots before Lagace was thrust into the game.
Lagace played 27 minutes in the second game against Val-d’Or and allowed one goal on seven shots. It’s the first game he’s played in since March 2.
