Another solid, dependable member of the 2006 draft class has retired after a decade-long career
Former Cowboys and Redskins defensive end Jason Hatcher hung it up after a career highlighted by a 2013 Pro Bowl berth. His agent, Jordan Woy, announced Hatcher’s decision on Twitter.

Hatcher joins Jets left tackle D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Steelers tight end Heath Miller (drafted in 2005) in the class of players who put in a decade or so of service and decided to move on with their lives even though they still had something left in the tank. Although Ferguson’s decision was influenced at least partially by the NFL’s concussion crisis, none of these retirements are abrupt enough to set off that alarm.
Drafted in the third round, Hatcher had 34.5 career sacks, including at least one every year of his career. He had 11 in 2013, his final year with the Cowboys. After playing eight years in Dallas, he finished his career with the Redskins in 2014 and 2015.
Hatcher turns 34 this summer.
