Report: ‘Sweet spot’ to trade into first round and draft a quarterback is 25-30

The top two quarterback prospects are a lock to go one and two in the first round of the draft Thursday. But as Fox Sports’ Peter Schrager suggests, there’s potential for more quarterbacks to be taken late in the first round.

Picks 25-30 belong to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers, all of whom are set at quarterback. According to the trade value chart, the cost to move up into the first round is probably a couple of mid-round draft picks. But for a team looking to find its quarterback of the future, it could be well worth it.

Lynch and Cook, while not as talked about as Jared Goff and Carson Wentz, are still good prospects. They just need a little more work.

Looking at the top half of Round 2, teams that might consider moving up for a quarterback could include the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers.

We’ll see Thursday night if those teams entertain a trade up.
