Reports: Serious trade potential for both No. 2 and 3 picks in NFL draft

The first overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft has already been dealt away, and there’s a growing possibility that both the second and third overall picks will follow suit.

According to Jeff Darlington of NFL Network, the Cleveland Browns are “actively shopping” the No. 2 pick to teams inside the top 10, while the San Diego Chargers are receiving “just as much action” on the No. 3 pick, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network,

The Tennessee Titans and Los Angeles Rams started the shakeup at the top of the draft last week, with the Titans agreeing to send the first overall pick to Los Angeles for a hoard of draft picks. The expectation is growing in the Rams taking Cal quarterback Jared Goff at No. 1, which could be fueling much of the interest in the next two picks.

The Philadelphia Eagles remain one of the favorites to move up. A number of players could be the target, but Philadelphia’s attraction to North Dakota State quarterback Carson Wentz figures to be the main motivation behind any potential trade up to No. 2 or 3 overall.

If quarterbacks go 1-2, it’s possible a handful of teams will be interested in moving up to No. 3 overall and taking Ole Miss left tackle Laremy Tunsil or Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey. That said, it could be very difficult for the Chargers to pass up on adding a player like Tunsil.

A little over a week out, the 2016 draft figures to provide one of the more unpredictable first rounds in recent memory. A historic trade has already been completed, and a number of other important deals could be coming within the next nine days.
