Abby Wambach gets standing ovation leaving final match (video)

The USWNT fans in attendance at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome erupted when Abby Wambach was substituted out of Wednesday night’s match against China in the 70th minute.

It was the final time Wambach would leave (or enter) a match at the international level, and the great ovation the fans gave her reflected that.

Unfortunately, USWNT lost the match 1-0, snapping their 104-game streak of being unbeaten on home soil.

But Abby, well, she had a great career, and scored more goals in international play than any women’s soccer player ever has. And she went out with an awesome interview that concluded with her dropping the mic, literally.
