American flag rips during national anthem at Game 3 of World Series

Game 3 of the 2014 World Series didn’t begin the way many had hoped it would.

When Little Big Town was performing “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the game was to begin, the American flag was unfurled. Unfortunately, a seam split, and the flag tore right down the middle of the stripes.

And to add insult to injury, one of the flag unfurlers got caught up during the incident and had to lay on the ground under the flag to hide, according to Sporting News’ Jesse Spector. When Little Big Town finished singing, he took off running through the hole in the flag toward the right-field wall.
