Anthony Davis leaves game with back injury

New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis dove for a loose ball and landed on his back in Friday night’s game against the Indiana Pacers midway through the first quarter. Davis did not immediately leave the game but walked off in pain moments later in the first quarter.

Before exiting, Davis had scored just two points with an assist through three minutes of action. The oft-injured Davis has battled knee and shoulder injuries this year, but has played in 31 of the Pelicans’ 34 games this season.

Davis slowly walked off the court and into the locker room with trainers around him, but was able to walk off under his own power. A few minutes after walking into the locker room, the Pelicans’ announced Davis was questionable to return with a back contusion.

Further details on the extent of Davis’ injury and his availability for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers should become available after the game.
