Celtics reportedly interested in J.R. Smith

The Cleveland Cavaliers and J.R. Smith are reportedly $5 million per year apart on a contract. But as far apart as the two sides are, it is likely that Smith will re-sign with Cleveland.

However, there are several teams that have interest in the shooting guard, according to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News. One team is the Boston Celtics, who Isola says could use Smith to be a back-up to Avery Bradley.

The problem is, however, the Celtics have approximately $9 million to sign Smith, who is seeking $15 million annually. Cleveland has offered Smith somewhere in the range of $10 to $11 million per year.

The Celtics would have to get closer to $15 million than the Cavaliers for Smith to want to Cleveland, where he won a championship last June.
