Daniel Sturridge’s goal lifts England over Wales, fans go nuts celebrating

England striker Daniel Sturridge entered Thursday’s Euro 2016 match against Wales as a substitute, and man, it’s a good thing he did. The team was in desperate need of three points after allowing a late goal for a 1-1 draw against Russia in its first match, so they needed to take care of their neighbor rivals.

And Sturridge got it done.

He came into the game in the 46th minute, and the speedy striker made his presence felt immediately and gave his team a boost. And he came up big when it mattered most. In the 92nd minute, with Wales clogging the box with defenders, Sturridge received a pass and made the most of the tiniest bit of space he received by poking the ball past the keeper with his toe.

England fans went nuts celebrating in nearby Lens.

England now sits atop the group with four points.
