Ezekiel Elliott praises Cowboys offensive line

It would be shocking if Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott wasn’t a top 10 pick in the NFL draft Thursday night.

His ceiling is probably the Cowboys at No. 4. If that happens, it would mean more money in Elliott’s pocket and the best possible offensive line in front of him.

“It would be an honor for any running back to go run behind them. I’m sure every running back in this draft is licking their chops for the opportunity to play behind that line,” Elliott told the Forth Worth Star-Telegram.

Pro Football Focus ranked the Cowboys’ offensive line the best in the NFL in 2014 and 2015. Darren McFadden ran for 1,089 yards behind that line, his biggest total since 2010. The Cowboys added Alfred Morris in the offseason, but his yardage has decreased in each of his four seasons in the NFL.

The Cowboys have used the first round of the draft to build up that offensive line in recent years. If they draft Elliott, he would be the first offensive skill position player they’ve taken in the first round since Dez Bryant in 2010. That worked out pretty well.
