Jets had ‘come-to-Jesus’ meeting after loss to Chiefs

Jets coach Todd Bowles told ESPN that he and his team had a “come-to-Jesus” meeting on Monday after an ugly 24-3 loss at Kansas City.

It’s safe to assume he wasn’t talking about Touchdown Jesus.

It was probably more like the story in the Bible about Jesus flipping over tables when he saw the church being used for a flea market.

Who knows if any tables were harmed during Bowles’ speech, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Jesus’ name was used. He did use some colorful language in Sunday’s post-game press conference.

The Jets (1-2) committed eight turnovers Sunday, the most they’ve committed since 1976. Six of those were Ryan Fitzpatrick interceptions. Fitzpatrick said that Monday’s speech was “potentially a turning point in the season.”

Bowles delivered the same kind of speech last season after a loss at Houston, and the Jets won five in a row.

That might be asking a lot this time around. The Jets host the Seahawks Sunday, then go to Pittsburgh and Arizona, host Baltimore and go to Cleveland.

Whether or not the Jets have found Jesus, if Fitzpatrick can take better care of the ball, they’ll have a chance to put some wins together.
