Josh Lambo laughs after tough loss, angers Chargers teammates

All four of the Chargers’ losses this season have been gut-wrenching, but kicker Josh Lambo didn’t seem too bothered after Sunday’s 34-31 defeat in Oakland.

Lambo was caught on camera laughing with Raiders kicker Sebastian Janikowski after the game, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune. That didn’t sit well with some of his teammates, especially after a loss in which the Chargers trailed 34-24 in the fourth quarter but had a chance to tie it with just over two minutes left. That didn’t happen, however, because of an errant snap on Lambo’s 35-yard field goal attempt.

It’s not like the loss is on Lambo’s shoulders. He never had a chance to kick the field goal, but Chargers head coach Mike McCoy and special teams coordinator Craig Auckerman didn’t think dropping to 1-4 in such a heart-breaking way was a laughing matter.

“When a teammate sees you in a situation like this and you get caught, laughing it up, people take it differently,” McCoy said.

Lambo has talked to coaches and teammates and it seems as though he has apologized and smoothed over the situation. For now, it looks like he’ll avoid the dreaded “idiot kicker” label.
