This Saturday will mark the 90th anniversary of Harold “Red” Grange’s surreal six-touchdown performance against Michigan.
To commemorate the amazing feat, Illinois announced on Tuesday that the team will wear “Gray Ghost” uniforms at their upcoming homecoming game. Remember, sports writer Grantland Rice called Grange a “gray ghost” after that legendary performance—in which he scored four touchdowns in the game’s first 12 minutes—because of his elusiveness and quickness.
Here are some photos to illustrate what the “Gray Ghost” jerseys and helmets will look like.
