Ravens fire offensive coordinator Marc Trestman

Back-to-back home losses to teams with the 32nd- and 27th-ranked defenses got Ravens offensive coordinator Marc Trestman fired Monday, according to NFL.com.

After a 3-0 start, the Ravens lost 28-27 to the Raiders in Week 4 and 16-10 Sunday to the Redskins.

The Ravens rank 23rd in the league with 338.2 yards per game and while Joe Flacco leads the NFL in both completions (138) and passes attempted (216), he’s thrown just five touchdown passes and four interceptions. His yards per passing attempt is 5.9. It’s never been lower than 6.4 in his career. His touchdown percentage is 2.3. It’s never been lower than 3.1.

Trestman took over in 2015 after going 13-19 in two seasons as head coach of the Bears. Before that, he was the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes of the CFL. He’ll be replaced by quarterbacks coach Marty Mornhinweg, who was offensive coordinator for the Eagles from 2006 to 2012 before serving as the Jets’ offensive coordinator in 2013 and 2014. Mornhinweg has led his offenses to top-10 finishes in points and yards eight times.

The Ravens also switched offensive coordinators in 2012, firing Cam Cameron and promoting Jim Caldwell. They won the Super Bowl that year. If they win Super Bowl LI, offensive coordinators all over the league will fear for their jobs next year.
