The New England Patriots are currently being investigated for possibly deflating footballs in Sunday’s AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts.
It clearly wasn’t the difference in the game. Bill Belichick coached circles around Chuck Pagano, and his players executed perfectly and played at a high level throughout the AFC matchup. New England dominated all three phases of the game, and that was the difference—not the possibly-deflated footballs.
But Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski has solved the mystery of how the balls may have become deflated. He caught a touchdown pass near the end of the third quarter of the game, and he spiked the heck out of the ball in celebration.
And that was the logic behind this great tweet which he recently posted.

So there you have it—Gronk spiked the air out of the balls.
