Robert Griffin III exits game with ankle injury vs. Jaguars

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was forced to leave Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with what appears to be a potentially serious ankle injury.

The former Heisman Trophy winner suffered the non-contact injury during the first quarter.. The entire medical staff was seen working on his left ankle on the sideline CSN Washington’s Chris Miller pointed out that it looked like his ankle bent inside on his last play before exiting the game. He was carted off to the locker room with an aircast on his injured ankle.

Griffin III has struggled mightily with injuries since his rookie season but has managed to miss just four regular-season games through his first two-plus seasons in the NFL. Losing their starting quarterback this early in the year could be a devastating blow for the Redskins, though backup Kirk Cousins came in and threw a touchdown pass to give his team an early lead.
