Shannon Sharpe trolls Patriots fans but shows remorse

Former Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe has a lot of time on his hands now that he’s not working for CBS.

The Hall of Famer was using that time to engage in a Twitter war with Patriots fans and even some members of the Boston media a day after the Broncos’ 20-18 win over the Patriots in the AFC championship game.

Sharpe seems to be calling for a cease fire, however. This is what he tweeted at 2:37 p.m.

Here are some of the highlights (or lowlights) of Sharpe’s timeline.

Sharpe was a member of the Broncos’ 1997 and 1998 championship teams and the Ravens’ 2000 championship team. He made eight Pro Bowls and was named First-Team All-Pro four times.

He worked on “The NFL Today” for more than a decade but was replaced before the 2014 season.

Sharpe and Patriots fans go way back. In 1996, while the Broncos were beating the Patriots 34-8 at New England, Sharpe picked up a phone on the sideline and mockingly called the president asking for the National Guard.

Ah, those were the days. Before Twitter existed, all that trolling was face-to-face and kind of funny. It was a simpler time.

How about we all move on? Apparently there’s a big game in a couple of weeks.
