Steve Smith suffers ankle injury, leaves game vs. Redskins

A borderline ageless wonder, Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith suffered an ankle injury during Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.

Smith had caught three passes for 29 yards to get going early, then suffered the issue.

NFL.com’s Chris Wessling noted the injury alongside Josh Norman’s wrist issue:

Norman would later return to the game for the Redskins.

Smith, on the other hand, couldn’t pass the necessary checks to get back in the game:

It’s a disappointing turn of events for both the Ravens and Smith. The Ravens were losing to the Redskins in the second half. Smith had started the season on a strong note, catching 24 passes for 281 yards and a score.

For now, Baltimore will turn to Mike Wallace, Dennis Pitta and others while waiting for the 37-year-old wideout to recover.
