In what is building up to be another unforgettably competitive matchup between the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots, Julian Edelman gave the Pats a 20-7 second-quarter lead on a spectacular 84-yard punt return for a touchdown.
The punt was trouble from the beginning, with punter Britton Colquitt fumbling the snap. He was still able to get the kick off before Patriots defenders closed in on him, but he may have been better off just diving on the loose ball.
There was a questionable block on the return that went unpenalized. Former NFL referee Mike Carey confirmed during the CBS telecast that the block was close but that the officials made a wise choice going with the no-call.
