Watch: Philip Rivers connects with Eddie Royal on 47-yard touchdown pass

The San Diego Chargers regained an early lead against the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road thanks to a 47-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Philip Rivers to wideout Eddie Royal in the second quarter. Royal got lost behind the defense and there was nothing the Jags could do to slow him down once the football was in his hands.

Rookie Blake Bortles is making his first NFL start for the Jaguars at quarterback and has already eclipsed 100 yards passing while guiding the Jaguars to a 7-3 lead on a 10-play, 68-yard drive capped off by a one-yard touchdown run by Toby Gerhart. The Jaguars defense could not hold steady for long, however, and Rivers was able to toss his seventh touchdown of the season to put the Chargers back on top early in the second quarter.
