Watch: Josh Harrison turns spectacular double play

There’s turning the conventional 5-4-3 double play and then there’s what Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Josh Harrison seems to do on a daily basis.

With runners on first and second with no outs in the top of the seventh inning, Harrison made a great diving stop on a hit down the line by Cincinnati Reds third baseman Kris Negron. Quickly tapping third base with his throwing hand, he hopped up to his feet and fired the ball to first base to beat the sprinting Negron.

The 27-year-old infielder has become a must-watch player for the Pirates. He’s a fixture on SportsCenter because of his defensive prowess at the hot corner.

Harrison’s heroics were not restricted to the defensive side of the baseball diamond, however. He was the Pirates’ player of the game in a 2-1 victory over the rival Reds, going 3-for-4 with one run batted in and scored the go-ahead run in the eight inning on a single by outfielder Jose Tabata.
