The sad fan index, week 13

The College Football season is coming to the end and that by itself is sad. What’s even more sad? When your team loses a key game down the stretch.

Based on last weekend’s games, let’s take a look at the saddest fan bases in the college football spotlight:

No. 1: Virginia Tech Hokies

I think this picture sums up perfectly why the Hokies are sad this week….

Beamer

Not only did the Hokies tie Wake Forest at the end of regulation 0-0, but they went on to lose the game 6-3 in double OT. Oh man, remember the days of beating teams like Ohio State? Me neither.

No. 2 : Ole Miss Rebels

The Rebels were trending down having lost two of three games coming into their match-up with Arkansas but nobody thought they would get blown off the field by the Hogs. Bret Bielema and his Razorbacks beat the Rebels 30-0 and if the Rebels had any thoughts of making it to the College Football Playoff, they don’t now.

No. 3: USC Trojans

What’s worse than losing to an in-state rival? Nothing. UCLA was the higher ranked team but they rolled over the men of Troy and made Steve Sarkisian’s first game in this series one to forget.

No. 4: Michigan Wolverines

It’s been a nightmare season for Brady Hoke and the Michigan Wolverines and this week the Maryland Terrapins put a capper on it as both of the “new” Big Ten teams beat the Wolverines this season. If Michigan wants to get bowl eligible, all they have to do is beat Ohio State.

No.5 Utah Utes

In October, the Utes were sitting pretty at 6-1. Now they have lost three of their last four and just got smoked at home against Arizona…
