- Managing Editor Matt Zemek is a voter in the poll, but will not cast a ballot until November.
- Ole Miss moves up to No. 1 this week. While it looked less-than-impressive against Vanderbilt, the victory over Alabama made a big enough impression this week to vault the Rebels to the top of the mountain.
- Although Ohio State received the most first-place votes this week, it dropped out of the top spot. Based on the ballots, this was directly related to what TCU and Utah did this weekend — not how the Buckeyes played against Western Michigan on Saturday.
- Michigan State was the most polarizing team, appearing as high as number one on one ballot and as low as 11th on another.
- Utah made the biggest jump this week, moving up from 17 to 4. Our voters were split on exactly how good the Utes are, with five voters placing them between seventh and tenth, while four others listed them in the top four.
- Florida, California, and Michigan enter this week’s poll after impressive victories this weekend.
- Toledo dropped from the rankings, even though it beat Arkansas State, 37-7.
- Missouri and Oregon failed to receive votes after losing to Kentucky and Utah, respectively.
