One of the requirements of being an NFL owner should be to have an active Twitter account. That’s a requirement that Colts owner Jim Irsay would have no problem fulfilling. Sometimes it can get him into trouble too as is the case with his tweet about Robert Griffin III.
A Luck private workout 2day..we want 2b as thorough n disciplined n process of #1 pick..we wanted 2do private with RG3,but his agent said no
— Jim Irsay (@JimIrsay) April 3, 2012
The statement is a generically short tweet, but it reveals a lot about Robert Griffin’s opinion of the Colts. It says even more that he’d rather be drafted by the Washington Redskins than the Indianapolis Colts.
The key point in Irsay’s tweet is that he makes it clear that the agent said no, not Griffin. While that’s a polite way of blaming someone other than Griffin, it’s also a poorly constructed deflection. If Griffin wanted to have any chance of playing in Indianapolis, he’d want to give the Colts a private workout. In other words, Griffin didn’t want to have a private workout with the Colts, and he let his agent know about it.
While this most recent development isn’t earth shattering by any stretch of the imagination, it does further the thought that the Colts will be locked into drafting Andrew Luck by the time the draft rolls around. All signs have pointed to Andrew Luck heading to Indiana, and no recent developments have led us to believe otherwise even as some analysts have vocally suggested that Griffin should be the Colts’ pick with the top pick of the draft.
