Eagles giving Kevin Kolb and the Cardinals a big opportunity

Playing a former team always gives players an extra bit of motivation in the week leading up to gameday. Playing a former team that also bailed on you as a player gives you even more of a kick in the rear.

This weekend, the Arizona Cardinals are matched up against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kevin Kolb's former team. Life hasn't exactly been easy for Kolb since being displaced by Michael Vick, but now Kolb is the starter in Arizona for the foreseeable future, and fate has given him a golden opportunity at redemption against his former team.

The Cardinals come into this weekend's game with as much positive momentum as any team in the league. After Ryan Williams gave the Patriots last week's game on a golden platter, New England kicker Stephen Gostkowski gave the game right back by missing a relatively short field goal to close out the game.

While Kevin Kolb's performances this year haven't exactly warranted the mass creation of Official NFLShop coupon codes for his jerseys, he's been efficient in the Cardinals two wins this season, and that counts for something in this league.

The Cardinals will be viewed by most as the underdog going into Sunday's game, but they're finally showing some level of consistency on offense. Combine that with a very good defense, and the Cardinals could be this year's surprise of the year. Kevin Kolb has been gifted yet another chance at starting for the Cardinals; let's hope he makes the most of it this time.
