Jaworski out as a booth commentator

The news that I’ve been waiting for a couple of years now has finally been passed down. Ron Jaworski will no longer be calling Monday Night Football games for ESPN.

ESPN says that Jaworski has signed a five year contract extension that will place him on other programming, and luckily, off of calling games live with Jon Gruden and Mike Tirico.

As many of you may remember, Jaworski’s most infamous moment covering Monday Night Football came this past season when Jaws said “shit” live during the Patriots, Dolphins Monday Night game. For those of you that may have missed it, I dug it up for our viewing pleasure.

Frankly, I didn’t notice it when it happened live. I was busy with other things, and that was probably the case with about half of everyone watching the game. Then, Jaws brings it up in this half-cooked apology.

It’s unclear whether the moment had any bearing on his departure from the press box, but at least we won’t have to listen to him praising every quarterback to step foot on the field.
