Raheem Morris Dismissed; Staff Also Fired

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have relieved head coach Raheem Morris of his position according to the team’s web site. Jason La Canfora is also reporting that the team has dismissed the rest of the coaching staff as well.

Morris was dismissed after 3 seasons as the Bucs’ top man following a dismal 4-12 campaign that included losing the final 10 game of the season. At one point during the losing streak, it was reported that the Buccaneers would have fired Morris mid-season, but team ownership felt that the staff couldn’t function without Morris due to its small number of coaches. Everyone knew Morris was out, including Morris, even if he didn’t want to admit it.

Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported via Twitter that general manager Mark Dominik will not be fired.

The search for a new head coach in Tampa Bay will likely begin immediately. While names such as Jeff Fisher and Bill Cowher will likely be tossed around, the Buccaneers are more likely to be interested in another young, up and coming coach that falls in line with the way they hired Morris.

The Buccaneers have scheduled a press conference today at 3 PM EST that will be available live at Buccaneers.com.
