Donovan McNabb told NBC SportsTalk on Thursday that he puts his chances of playing in 2012 at 80-90%. I’m always pessimistic about players that say they’re making a comeback, especially when the player in question hasn’t signed with a team yet. The market for a quarterback like McNabb is virtually non-existent. The only way I see him actually getting on the field in 2012 is if a team’s starting quarterback is injured, and that team doesn’t feel comfortable with their backup. Outside of that, I’m just not seeing a comeback from McNabb, especially considering his low level of play over the past couple of seasons.
Everyone knows that watching a game at home can often be every bit as satisfying, if not better, than driving to an NFL stadium to watch a game live. That’s why the Green Bay Packers are making some modifications to Lambeau Field to compete with the experience fans have at home. For example, the Packers are adding bigger scoreboards, better concessions, and places to watch the game while standing. It’s a step in the right direction, but it’s not enough to compete with the home experience.
On Thursday, former Bills quarterback Jim Kelly said on NFL Network’s Total Access he thought it was a mistake for the Jets to bring in Tim Tebow without unloading Mark Sanchez. In this case, Kelly is exactly right. The situation created by bringing in Tebow is borderline toxic, and we all know that New York fans won’t have much patience with Sanchez, especially with Tebow on the bench.
