I’m sure a reliable electric system is in the works for the 49ers’ new stadium. Hopefully that’s not what the county is pulling $30 million from.
Mike Rosenberg of the San Jose Mercury News reports that Santa Clara County, in an unexpected move, has pulled $30 million in funding for the 49ers’ new stadium. There’s a whole number of issues and problems that could arise from them move, which we’ll cover at TGS later in the day, but for now just know that the move in no way threatens the future of the 49ers in the San Francisco area. In other words, this won’t send them to Los Angeles.
Brett Favre isn’t upset that the Saints may or may not have put a bounty on his head in the 2010 NFC title game, according to his interview with the NFL Network. The retired quarterback is only upset that he wasn’t able to pull that game out for the Vikings. As you may recall, he threw an interception the play prior to what would have been a long field goal, but a makeable one at that. We’ll never know what would have happened had Favre not thrown the pick, but we can still wonder.
Steelers GM Kevin Colbert is liking what he’s seeing from Todd Haley’s new offense. Colbert told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that there aren’t a lot of glaring errors as the team learns the new system. Obviously, as Colbert points out, there will be times when there are problems with the players understanding the system, but if Colbert is right about the Steelers’ ability to pick up the offense now, they should be completely ready to go when September rolls around.
