NFL training camp buzz

With camps starting up around the league there is buzz surrounding many different players around the league. During training camp you hear a lot about rookies and their potential, you hear about new free agent acquisitions and how impressive they are, and then you hear about an arrest every now and then.

Just in case you are a casual fan and don’t keep up with twitter or the NFL offseason, here are some early things to monitor and make sure you don’t miss.

– Tampa Bay RB Doug Martin

Bucs offensive lineman Davin Joseph on RB Doug Martin: "Reminds you of Ray Rice or Maurice Jones-Drew… made some explosive runs." Others have compared Martin to another Martin (Curtis Martin). Martin is already seen as the possible starter for the Bucs. Don’t be shocked if Martin provides a lift to the Bucs offense and also to fantasy owners.

– Brandon Lloyd

Lloyd for most of his career has been underrated and gone under the radar. That being said Lloyd is not your typical diva WR and just goes to work and does his job with some of the best hands in the NFL. That combination while working with Tom Brady has the makings for a good pairing. Lloyd has started early buzz of being the best player at camp and has been grabbing anything and everything.

– Peyton Manning finding his form with Eric Decker

While Peyton didn’t use the deep ball much in OTA’s he is now getting more comfortable with his game and has been developing a very nice relationship with Eric Decker. The Manning – Decker combo could resemble what Manning had with both Stokley and Collie in Indy.

SI’s Peter King believes Decker could compete with the league lead in receptions if he is able to stay healthy.

– The San Diego Chargers

This one isn’t as much as buzz as it is my own opinion. The Chargers are flying way under the radar and the team is still loaded with talent. While I hate their head coach this team does have the talent and QB to be a serious playoff contender. I wouldn’t sleep on the Chargers.

– Chad Johnson returning to his pre Ocho’ form and Tannehill looking good early

Chad Johnson the WR was a pro bowl elite WR, Ochocino NOT SO MUCH. That being said 401 dollars later Chad Johnson is back and has been the best WR in the Dolphins camp.

"Chad looked like he hasn't lost a step at all. He looks about 23 years old out there," Dolphins safety Jimmy Wilson said.

Ryan Tannehill who missed the first 2 days of camp has wasted no time impressing coaches and getting off to a good start in Miami.

Also note that MJD and Dwayne Bowe have still not reported to camp and these holdouts have the potential to get messy. Another thing to monitor is that AP had an allergic reaction to seafood and was sent to the hospital, while I am sure it’s nothing serious it doesn’t help after coming off the big injury he had last season.
