It might still be July however it is never to early to start preparing for the upcoming fantasy football season.
Fantasy takes hours of work and dedication if your going to want to succeed, and if not you will be the player left behind drafting someone who is suspended for the first 3 games without you having any clue.
While I usually wait until August to start my prep, here are a couple of tips for how to prepare for the fantasy football offseason.
Before getting ready to draft there are a couple of things you should always be monitoring:
– Always be checking ThisgivenSunday.com so you have the latest and best NFL news. If your looking for another site which can be quite helpful for fantasy owners, Rotoworld.com is my personal favorite
– Draft as the pros do : Make a draft board suited for you pick and then another board based on overall rankings of all available players
– Carefully monitor all offseason positional battles
– Keep your ears out for buzz around the league (i.e. Peter King tweeted today that Eddie Royal could have big fantasy value catching 75 balls in SD)
– Pay attention to the rookies, more and more rookies are making impact in the league from week 1 of their young NFL careers.
– Never follow TD trends instead look at yards and receptions, touchdowns are the hardest thing to follow up on the next season
– Never trust a New England backfield or Mike Shanahan
– Be cautious with players coming off serious injuries (i.e. AP)
I’m sure many of you out there are just as anxious to start your fantasy homework as I am. Fantasy football is not a hobby, it’s a job. Treat it with respect, and do your work and you will be rewarded.
