Calvin Johnson funding pro-abstinence movie

Athletes have always been involved in social issues, likely due to their visibility in the public eye. Calvin Johnson is now funding a pro-abstinence movie.

According to The New Republic, Calvin Johnson is helping to fund a movie with a pro-abstinence message. The movie, called Real Love, is described as a "coming-of-age story about a girl trying to stay true to her virginity and her religion."

We can debate all day whether someone like Calvin Johnson should be involved in such an issue, but give him some credit. He's not only willing to share his beliefs, he's also willing to financially back a project financially based on his convictions. For now, however, we won't hold our collective breath for a blockbuster hit.
