David Caldwell named Jaguars GM; Jets in limbo

As indicated by various reports throughout the day, Jay Glazer of Fox Sports being the first, David Caldwell has been named the Jaguars' new general manager.

Caldwell has been the frontrunner for the Jaguars' open general manager position, but it was reported that contract negotiations were far apart, and money threatened to de-rail the deal. In the end, the Jaguars and Caldwell came to an agreement.

Jaguars owner Shahid Khan was pleased with the outcome of his search, saying in a statement, "We got our man, I have a lot of faith in David Caldwell and I can assure our fans that the best days for the Jacksonville Jaguars are in front of us."

The move is good news for the Jaguars, but it means more confusion will follow. Jake Steinberg tweeted earlier in the day that Caldwell had nailed his interview with the Jets while the initial frontrunner for the Jets open GM position, Tom Gamble, "blew his interview and was not impressive." With Caldwell now unavailable, the Jets could be once again left on the outside looking in.
