Jimmy Smith Mug Shot(2)

Former Jaguars great Jimmy Smith out of prison

Jimmy Smith, one of the greatest Jaguars players of all time, is out of prison, but remains on house arrest following what was originally a six-year drug and weapons sentence.

The former receiver, who dealt with substance abuse problems throughout his career, is allowed to go to work, school and church, but must otherwise remain at home according to the Florida Times-Union. Smith will wear an ankle bracelet to ensure he stays within those parameters.

Smith played eleven seasons with the Jaguars from 1995 to 2005. He topped 1,000 yards receiving in all but two of those seasons, amassing over 12,000 yards receiving and 67 touchdown receptions.

Jimmy Smith is arguably the best player to ever play for the Jaguars. A strong case can also be made for Fred Taylor who owns nearly every Jaguars rushing record. A case for Tony Boselli could also be made, but his career in Jacksonville was cut short by injury.
