Nothing earth-shattering, but Steven Jackson has officially voided the final year of his contract.

The tweet says it all. Steven Jackson, as was expected, has voided the final year of his contract with the Rams, and he now enters free agency for the first time.
In his time with the Rams, Jackson ran for 10,135 yards and 56 touchdowns. His most prolific season came in 2006 when he ran for 1,528 yards and 13 touchdowns. The move ends a run with the Rams that lasted nine seasons. Jackson holds the franchise record for the most rushing yards by a Rams player by nearly 3,000 yards.
By voiding his contract now, Jackson effectively has a five day head start on other running backs that are entering free agency five days from now. The Falcons would be a logical landing spot for Jackson, as they would give him a legitimate opportunity to win a championship. In addition, the Falcons parted ways with Michael Turner earlier this offseason, leaving a vacancy at the running back position that would suit Jackson well.
