10 crazy stats from Week 12

The weekly meandering through statistical oddness starts with lots of numerical fun from a Titans-Eagles game that didn’t feature much defense.

107: The length of Josh Huff’s kick return touchdown to start the Eagles’ eventual 43-24 win over Tennessee. Huff became one of only eight returners in league history with a touchdown of that length or more.

100: Rushing yards at halftime for LeSean McCoy during that game. He entered Week 12 averaging 72.9 yards on the ground per week.

2: The amount of 60-plus yard receptions for Delanie Walker this season, the latest a 68-yarder this week. His longest catch last year? 33 yards.

18: Tim Wright’s receptions this season prior to Week 12. So of course the New England Patriots went full Bill Belichick during their win over the Detroit Lions, and Wright had two touchdown catches in just the first half.

4: Total touchdowns allowed by the Lions defense this week. They had given up more than two in a game only once before Week 12.

4: Robert Griffin III’s completions during the first half of a loss to the San Francisco 49ers. That’s pathetic during any half of football. Sooo he might not be good at football then, right?

3: Chris Clemon’s sacks during the first quarter of the Jaguars’ loss to Indianapolis. It was a particularly painful quarter for Andrew Luck despite the win. He went down four times in the first 15 minutes after being sacked only six times over the Colts’ previous four games.

23: The length of Toby Gerhart’s longest run in that Jaguars loss, which was also longer than his total rushing yardage in five other games this season.

18: The Amount of targets Josh Gordon received in his first game game back from a suspension. The rest of the Browns’ pass catchers combined outpaced him by only six targets during a win over the Falcons.

5: The amount of interceptions St. Louis Rams receiver Janoris Jenkins has returned for touchdowns over only 39 career games. His latest came in spectacular fashion during a loss to the Chargers. He took a Philip Rivers pass the other way for a 99-yard pick six.

About Sean Tomlinson

Hello there! This is starting out poorly because I already used an exclamation point. What would you like to know about me? I once worked at a mushroom farm, which is sort of different I guess (don't eat mushrooms). I'm pretty wild too, and at a New Year's Eve party years ago I double-dipped a chip. Oh, and I write about football here and in a few other places around the Internet, something I did previously as the NFL features writer and editor at The Score. Let's be friends.
