Geno Smith wants to know: Why not us?
At his camp, #Jets QB @GenoSmith7 told @nflnetwork “I feel good about our team making a Super Bowl run. … You know, why not us?”

I know, it’s the parity-plagued NFL, where anyone can be good in any given year. But because the New York Jets still have a ways to go and because we’re eternal pessimists, let’s list a few responses to Smith’s rhetorical question.
First, your quarterback. Yeah, you. Your 2013 passer rating of 66.5 was the worst among all qualifying quarterbacks in the NFL. Rookies are supposed to struggle, but that kind of garbage is unacceptable, which is why the Jets were forced to bring in Michael Vick, who is a disaster waiting to happen each time he possesses the ball. And quarterbacks tend to do that quite often.
Second, your weapons. Or lack thereof. Chris Johnson could be superb if you have a flux capacitor. Eric Decker makes a great No. 2 or No. 3 receiver, but he ain’t a top guy. Beyond that, you’re relying on who? Stephen Hill? Jeremy Kerley? David Nelson? C’mon, man!
Finally, your coach. It’s still Rex Ryan, right? That shine came off two years ago, minimum, which has us thinking he has incriminating pictures of John Idzik and/or Woody Johnson. I don’t believe in this guy, and neither should you.
