TGS weekly NFL MVP tracker

Three weeks, three different MVP race leaders. It’s quite the battle, though, between the quarterbacks who met in last year’s Super Bowl. Following closely are quarterbacks for two of the three remaining 3-0 teams as well as two more quarterbacks off to solid starts.

So yeah, quarterbacks.

1. Russell Wilson, Seahawks — He out-dueled Peyton Manning, so we’re giving the guy a slight edge for now.

2. Peyton Manning, Broncos — Both he and Wilson have a passer rating of 109. Manning has two more touchdowns but fewer yards per attempt and a lower completion percentage.

3. Nick Foles, Eagles — He hasn’t even been on his game completely, but he’s led three fourth-quarter game-winning drives in as many weeks. No other quarterback has more than one thus far.

4. Andy Dalton, Bengals — Only two touchdown passes but everything else has been crisp as he leads the 3-0 Bengals despite an injury to top receiver A.J. Green.

5. Philip Rivers, Chargers — Dude has been completely picking apart some very good defenses. How do you face Arizona, Seattle and Buffalo and come away with a 2-1 record (could very easily have been 3-0) and a 108.3 passer rating?

6. Matt Ryan, Falcons — Leading the league with 8.7 yards per attempt and coming off an absolutely dominant divisional victory, Ryan has the Falcons alone atop the NFC South and in the early-season Super Bowl conversation.

7. DeMarco Murray, Cowboys — He’s still on pace to hit 2,000 yards while carrying the Dallas offense. How the hell are the Cowboys somehow 2-1? Murray, that’s how.

8. J.J. Watt, Texans — He was still a dominant bright spot for Houston in an otherwise depressingly bad performance against the Giants.

9. Andrew Luck, Colts — The league’s leader in touchdown passes finally got a win in a kick-ass performance against Jacksonville.

10. Kyle Fuller, Bears — It’s ridiculous to think that a rookie cornerback could ever win this award, but Fuller has been the best defensive back in football by a wide margin, and he’s been a playmaker too. Definitely beats out Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall as Chicago’s MVP so far.
