J.J. Watt must dominate for Texans to defeat Colts

J.J. Watt is one of the best defensive players that the NFL has ever seen and he will be asked to show why there has been so much hype surrounding him on Thursday night. The Houston Texans will be taking on their division rival Indianapolis Colts and Watt will be asked to dominate and put pressure on Andrew Luck if the Texans want any chance of coming away with a big victory.

Luck has struggled so far this season and he has struggled when teams have forced him to make quick decision. He has always been fairly turnover prone, but this year it has shown that he is more apt to make those mistakes than he has in years past. Watt can completely change the outcome of the game by getting through a weak Colts’ offensive line and forcing Luck to make quick decisions.

Throughout the first four games of the 2015 NFL season, Watt has been an absolute monster once again. He has recorded 23 tackles, 4.0 sacks and four defensed passes on the year so far.

Offenses have begun singling him out and forcing other players on the Texans’ defense to beat them. He has taken the extra attention and simply worked harder to continue getting to the quarterback. Pep Hamilton and the Colts have no lineman that stands any chance against Watt, which bodes well for the former Wisconsin Badgers’ star to have a big game.

At 6-foot-5 and 289 pounds, Watt is one of the best pass rushers that the NFL has seen in its history.

He combines above average strength and size to go along with impressive athleticism and speed. There are no offensive linemen in the NFL that can actually block Watt one-on-one.

If the Texans want to come away with a victory this week against the Colts, they will need to get to Luck. That is the only chance that they have and they have the personnel to do it. Watt is the franchise leader for the Texans and there is no doubt that he will be amped up to play this divisional game and try to capitalize on Luck’s weaknesses.

Expect to see Watt get to Luck a couple times throughout the course of the game. It will be interesting to see what happens when Watt does get to Luck. Will Luck try to get rid of the football too quick and throw an interception? Could Watt force a clutch fumble?

Only time will tell how this game will go, but the Texans feel very good about their chances with Watt on their side.
