TGS 2015 Preview: Indianapolis Colts

Between now and the end of August, TGS will offer up a quick snapshot of every NFL team heading into the 2015 regular season. Today, the Indianapolis Colts.

2014 in a nutshell: For the third consecutive year since drafting Andrew Luck, they win 11 games. But for the third consecutive year, they move one step closer to the Super Bowl (wild card in 2012, divisional playoffs in 2013, AFC championship in 2014).

Why 2015 could be different: It’s the fourth year for Luck, who is becoming a superstar. And they’ve given him some extra weapons in Frank Gore and Andre Johnson.

Major additions: Gore, Johnson and veteran defenders Trent Cole and Dwight Lowery

Major losses: Veterans Sergio Brown and Cory Redding, whom Pro Football Focus graded as the third- and fourth-best defensive players on the team, respectively.

Breakout watch: 2014 second-round pick Jack Mewhort has Pro Bowl potential at right tackle, particularly as a guy paving the way for Gore and Dan Herron.

Position to watch: Wide receiver, where T.Y. Hilton is already a stud, Donte Moncrief has shown flashes and now they’ll look to make room for the beastly Johnson and top 2015 pick Phillip Dorsett.

Prediction: They’ll run away with the AFC South and make a run at the Super Bowl, especially with the AFC East and North beating up on each other, the Patriots in shambles and the Broncos looking as though they could take a step backward.
