What you need to know about the NFL Scouting Combine

The 2015 NFL season is upon us. Was that two-week break enough for you? It was probably too long. Anyway, it is time to gear up for the NFL Scouting Combine.

A decade ago, the combine was nothing more than a bunch of draft hopefuls running around in anonymous baggy t-shirts and shorts, hoping to catch the eye of a team or two. Now, the combine is a massive television event which captures the imagination of fans and front offices alike.

Here are the things you need to know about the proceedings, per ESPN:

Day 1 – February 17

– Arrival of PK, ST, OL (Group 1), OL (Group 2) and TE (Group 3)
– Orientation, interviews, x-rays, registration and pre-exams

Day 2 – February 18

– Interviews, media, medical examinations and measurements (Group 1, 2, 3)
– Arrival of QB and WR (Group 4 and 5) and RB (Group 6)
– Orientation, interviews, x-rays, registration and pre-exams for Groups 4, 5, 6

Day 3 – February 19

– Bench press, interviews, psych testing, NFLPA meeting (Groups 1,2,3)
– Interviews, media, medical examinations and measurements (Groups 4, 5, 6)
– Arrival of DL (Groups 7 and 8) and LB (Group 9)
– Orientation, interviews, x-rays, registration and pre-exams for Groups 7, 8, 9

Day 4 – February 20

– On-field workout for Groups 1, 2 and 3
– Bench press, interviews, psych testing, NFLPA meeting (Groups 4, 5, 6)
– Interviews, media, medical examinations and measurements (Groups 7, 8, 9)
– Arrival of DB (Groups 10 and 11)
– Orientation, interviews, x-rays, registration and pre-exams for Groups 10, 11

Day 5 – February 21

– On-field workout for Groups 4, 5 and 6
– Bench press, interviews, psych testing, NFLPA meeting (Groups 7, 8, 9)
– Interviews, media, medical examinations and measurements (Groups 10 and 11)

Day 6 – February 22

– On-field workout for Groups 7, 8 and 9
– Bench press, interviews, psych testing, NFLPA meeting (Groups 10 and 11)

Day 7 – February 23

– On-field workout for Groups 10 and 11
