The NFL has its magnificent stadiums. It also has some brutal buildings. Unfortunately for those teams stuck in the latter category, it can hurt their ability to bring in quality players through free agency and fans through the gates.
Here are the 10 worst, going from bad to absolutely horrific:
10. MetLife Stadium
The building is only a few years old, but many New York fans constantly complain about everything involved outside of the mass transit. It is a hideous stadium that houses two teams, something upsetting to a pair of fan bases.
9. Bank of America Stadium
The Carolina Panthers are somewhat of a drab team, playing in a drab stadium. There is nothing massively wrong with the venue, but it simply does nothing to please the eye. Nothing to see here, literally.
8. LP Field
When the building was known as Adelphia Coliseum, the Titans were virtually unbeatable and the fans were rabid. Now? LP Field has an older look to it and many days, the stadium sits with a bevy of empty seats.
7. Georgia Dome
Who is a fan of domes in warm-weather venues? The Georgia Dome has played host to a pair of Super Bowls, but doesn’t have any claim to fame outside of that. Atlanta is getting a new stadium, and it has been a long time coming. Ugly building in a town that has a bad history of supporting teams.
6. Ralph Wilson Stadium
The Buffalo Bills are looked upon as a behind-the-times franchise by many fans around the country. Ralph Wilson Stadium is not helping the perception, being one of the most antiquated buildings in the NFL. Buffalo desperately needs a new building, but it does not appear on the horizon.
5. Everbank Stadium
The Jacksonville Jaguars might be the most depressing franchise in professional sports. Having to tarp off the upper deck in recent years because fans simply refuse to come in is the clincher, finally yanking them off in 2014. The building has nothing special to offer outside of a pool to distract people from the on-field product.
4. SunLife Stadium
Once known as Joe Robbie Stadium, it has hosted a bevy of Super Bowls. Presently, SunLife Stadium is an outdated building, although it is getting new seating in 2015. Miami will eventually get a new venue, giving the Dolphins a new way to attract free agents.
3. Edward Jones Dome
Now we hit the stadiums that are forcing teams to look toward Los Angeles. St. Louis is stuck in an ugly building with a lack of fans and luxury boxes. Owner Stan Kroenke is looking to move to Hollywood Park or, at minimum, get a new stadium in St. Louis.
2. Qualcomm Stadium
The Chargers have been playing at Qualcomm since the last 1960’s, back when the venue was called San Diego Stadium. It is an ugly, over-the-hill building that needs to be knocked down immediately. Unfortunately, that is not on the county’s radar.
1. O.co Coliseum
The stadium overflows with sewage during the baseball season and has horrible draining. It has been an eyesore since the 1990’s when Mount Davis was built, blocking out the beautiful mountain range in the background. Knock. It. Down.
