Packers cut A.J. Hawk

While this probably doesn’t come as a shock to Green Bay Packers fans, it’s still kind of a jolt when someone who has such long ties to an organization gets bid a farewell. A.J. Hawk was drafted sixth overall by the Packers in the 2006 NFL Draft and went on to become the leading tackler in the history of the franchise.

The cut will give the Packers $3.5 million in cap space. Hawk is 31 and had ankle surgery after the season. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.
