Here’s a scary thought for opponents of the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team. Breanna Stewart gets better by the minute according to head coach Geno Auriemma.
In her first three games of what she and her teammates hope will be a fourth straight national title, Stewart has been consistent on the offensive end of the floor averaging 24.7 points, nine rebounds and four assists per game. Defensively, she’s averaging 3.3 blocks and six of those nine rebounds she’s averaging are coming on the other end of the floor.
And that’s what makes Stewart great. She can do it on both ends of the floor.
Watch and/or listen as Auriemma talks about how Stewart is playing consistent basketball and getting better.
Has UConn women’s basketball freshman Katie Lou Samuelson turned the corner?
After struggling from the floor in the first two games, Samuelson had her best game of her brief UConn women’s basketball career in a 42 point win over Nebraska this past Saturday with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting including 2-of-4 from three-point land. She also dished out three assists and had three rebounds.
More impressively though during one sequence of events, Samuelson hit a three-pointer and then went down to the defensive end and drew a charge.
The expectations are high for Samuelson at UConn but for now a little goes a long way as far as her confidence is concerned.
Watch and/or listen below as UConn women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma, Breanna Stewart, Naphessa Collier and Samuelson talk about her performance vs Nebraska.
Before the season started, UConn Huskies football head coach Bob Diaco had said that wide receiver Noel Thomas had a chance to become a special player in Storrs, CT. So far Thomas has made Diaco look good on that.
When you get a chance to see Thomas play, you can tell he’s a step above the rest. But it’s what he does in practice that makes him a better player.
You’ll see him working with the younger guys, whether it be on the JUGS machine or working on their hand/eye coordination to helping with routes, Thomas is there being a leader.
During his press conference on Tuesday, Diaco talked about Thomas’ growth. Thomas also talked about what he’s done on and off the field to be a better person and football player.
