The NCAA men’s basketball rankings are out for the week and the UConn Huskies have moved up one spot in the AP Poll to No. 19 while staying at No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The North Carolina Tar Heels are No. 1 in both polls and are followed by the Kentucky Wildcats, […]

Video: UConn Women’s Basketball Ready For Ohio State’s Guards

The Ohio State Buckeyes women’s basketball team has some pretty good guards in Kelsey Mitchell and Ameryst Alston. Unfortunately for them, the UConn women’s basketball team has better guards in All-American Moriah Jefferson and Canada’s summer MVP Kia Nurse.

In their season-opening loss to South Carolina, Mitchell and Alston put up a combined 43 shots of the team’s 80 and finished with 36 and 23 points respectively. So it’ll be up to the UConn women’s basketball guard to slow them down and get them out of their rhythm.

Watch and/or listen below as UConn women’s basketball head coach Geno Auriemma along with Kia Nurse, Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck talk about what they need to do to slow them down and win.

Video: UConn Women’s Basketball Freshman Get First Taste Monday Night

The UConn women’s basketball freshman class of Katie Lou Samuelson, Napheesa Collier and De’Janae Boykins was highly decorated coming into the program. On Monday night, two of three will get their first real taste of college basketball when they play the No. 6 team, The Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, OH.

Unfortunately, Boykins will miss the game due to an injury along with redshirt sophomore Natalie Butler and junior Saniya Chong.

So what advice would the elder UConn women’s basketball players give to the freshman?

Watch and/or listen below as Kia Nurse, Moriah Jefferson and Morgan Tuck give their advice to the freshman players.

Video: UConn Women’s Basketball Team Shows Season Ticket Holders Practice Clap

This past weekend, season ticket holders for the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team were invited to watch the team practice and see what goes on.

After practice was over, UConn women’s basketball All-American Moriah Jefferson demonstrated with the rest of her teammates the clap that they do at the end of practice.

Video: Time to Move On From 2015 UConn Women’s Basketball National Championship

The UConn women’s basketball team will open up the 2015-16 season this Monday night in Columbus, OH against The Ohio State Buckeyes.

They’ll have their home opener on November 28, 2015 at the XL Center against the Kansas St. Wildcats. They won’t make their Gampel Pavilion debut until December 5 when they’ll host the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a rematch of last year’s National Championship Game.

While it might be like pouring salt into the wounds of the Fighting Irish to celebrate last season’s national championship then, head coach Geno Auriemma didn’t want his charges to be distracted and opted to hold the ring ceremony and banner raising before last Sunday’s exhibition game vs Vanguard.

This allows the Huskies to officially close the book on the 2015 National Championship and concentrate on the task at hand, their fourth straight national championship.

Watch and/or listen below as Auriemma and Moriah Jefferson talk about getting the rings and raising the banner last weekend.

Many thanks to UCTV and UCTV Sports for helping me out and providing the video for Geno Auriemma’s press conference.
