Blackhawks News and Notes

With the regular season just about ready to wrap up and the Hawks having clinched a playoff berth, its time to throw out some Hawks news and notes.

  1. Oh Captain, My Captain…OUT! – Today the Chicago Blackhawks announced that Captain Jonathan Toews will miss the remainder of the regular season with an upper body injury. According to the Hawks twitter Coach Q said “Toews will sit out for the remaining regular-season games but is expected to be “100 percent” for the playoffs.”
  2. Injury Bug Continues – Now that Toews has been put on the shelf, that now makes four key players on the injured list with six games remaining. Patrick Kane (lower body) out until playoffs, Jonathan Toews (upper body) out until playoffs, Michal Rozsival (lower body) day-to-day and Bryan Bickell (lower body) day-to-day. Today Rozsival did skate at practice and hinted that he will NOT play Thursday but could return on Friday verse Columbus.
  3. Nordie is Back! – Today the Chicago Blackhawks recalled forward Joakim Nordstrom from the Rockford Icehogs (AHL). Nordstrom played in 22 games with the Hawks before being sent down. In 58 games with Rockford he has 33 point (17 G and 16 A).

With the Hawks having only 6 games remaining and as well as having Toews and Kane out until the playoffs, its time for the Hawks to see how well their deep roster can produce on a consistent basis.
